In the first game of Doak Walker’s amazing 1948 Heisman Trophy winning season, SMU traveled to Pittsburgh to face Pitt. As the Ponies waited for the train to leave, Doak took some time to visit with his fiancé to be, Norma Peterson, as they sat on the tracks. This intersectional game to open the season definitely showcased Doak on the national stage, as he accounted for 3 touchdowns and 3 extra points!
